General Announcements and Information

A gifted/talented student is a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same ate, experience, or environment and who

  • exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;
  • possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
  • excels in a specific academic field. ( Texas Education Code ยง29.121 )

The state's goal for the G/T students is to ensure that those students who participate in G/T services demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication. G/T students develop innovative products and sophisticated performances that reflect individuality and creativity and are targeted to an audience outside the classroom.

Nominating a Student for Gifted and Talented Program

The nomination/referral period for the 2019-20120 school year will open on Monday, August 5th, 2019.

Nominations/Referrals for K-1 and 3-12 are due to Tracey Meador no later than September 30th, 2019.

Nomination forms may be turned in early, but no forms will be accepted after the due date.

Students in grade 2 will be tested in October along with nominations received by the due date. Parent "permission to test" letters will be sent home prior to testing.
